Lonza Specialty Ingredients (LSI) is looking for a Project Engineer for our Rochester, NY plant. This person will be responsible for the management of project development from initial inquiry to project execution. Typically works on larger projects, ranging from $10K to $10MM (at times, in conjunction with Global Engineering.).
Responsible for supporting the Lonza Chemicals philosophy, “The Vision is Zero” in his/her job routine. Works to attain the purpose, “Zero injuries, Zero process incidents, Zero distribution incidents, and Zero environmental incidents”.
Supports our “Product Stewardship” initiative to ensure the health, safety and environmental performance of our products throughout the products’ life cycle.
Responsible for the planning, monitoring and executing of the defined capital project scope, ensuring cost, timing and quality objectives are met within a PSM and GMP environment. Ensure schedule is adhered to during the life of the project.
Creates P&ID Redlines, uses Chem Cad/Process modeling as required to evaluate hydraulics, evaluate relief devices or heat transfer systems.
Prepares engineering documentation and engineering calculations necessary for project implementation to include process design calculations and specification for piping, equipment and control instrumentation.
Responsible for tracking and reporting on project milestones and providing appropriate status reports to management, stakeholders, and customers.
Accountability to resolve any project issues and proactively resolve problems throughout the life of the project.
Overall responsibility for managing contractors for the site. Including, but not limited, safety performance, auditing to good engineering practices, etc.
Supports operations, engineering and maintenance with technical expertise and/or advice.
Participates and lead interdisciplinary reviews on all new and existing projects, including but not limited to: Process, P&ID, Hazop’s, PHA’s, MI, etc.
BS Degree in Chemical Engineering required
Ability to analyze large amounts of data in Excel
Knowledge of capital project development, execution, and field implementation
Understanding of process improvements
Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
