Lonza Specialty Ingredients (LSI) is looking for a Senior Director, Environmental, Health and Safety to lead the development and direction of LSI’s global environment, health, safety, occupational hygiene, remediation and physical security. Within this overall purpose, the position holder is directly responsible for the development and implementation of EHS governance, strategies, global management systems, organizational design and leadership and performance measurement processes. She/he is a liaison between the LSI Corporate EHS team and the EHS departments of each site. She/he directs and leads implementation of corporate EHS initiatives across LSI Operations, coordination and assistance with EHS programs across LSI’s global footprint.
Develop and support the successful execution of LSI’s Corporate Environment, Health, and Safety Strategic Plan
Establish LSI global EHS key performance indicators.
Drive targeted injury reduction efforts to ensure improvements in EHS performance that reduce overall Upper and Middle Tier incidents, drives “Vision Zero”, and support the long term goal of eliminating all EHS incidents across LSI’s Global footprint.
Lead/Manage the global LSI EHS staff/team and provide leadership and direction to global LSI operations in the development and implementation of sustainable EHS systems, programs, and processes that promote a culture of EHS excellence, sustainable operations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Manage global EHS information and reporting, including the generation of reports, their corresponding analysis, and proposed improvement actions for the entire segment.
Coordinate with local EHS management, Supplier auditing in Supply chain and LSI strategic Procurement to develop and execute both the internal audit program and external supplier assessments and management programs.
Oversee site emergency response plans, business continuity plans, and site physical security plans.
Coordinate LSI’s response to recommendations made in facility loss prevention reports, and provide guidance for corrective action.
Contributes in the investigation of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental incidents and the development of effective corrective actions. Track and report on the implementation of corrective actions.
Coordinates the development and maintenance of LSI corporate EHS guidelines to provide consistent direction in areas of environmental compliance, health, and security.
Assesses new developments and emerging issues in the health, safety, and environmental fields that may impact LSI’s operations.
Bachelor of Science in the field of study: Safety Sciences, Engineering, or similar required.
10+ years in Environmental, Health and Safety within the Chemical/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing- industry required.
Must be fluent in English, German-Business is a plus.
The position requires a knowledge of relevant global safety, environmental, and health regulations.
The person in this position must understand a specialty chemical manufacturing systems for their impact on the environment, and personnel and process safety.
The position holder must have the ability to influence the organization to achieve environmental, health and safety objectives and to foster a commitment to a safe work environment.
