Summer Intern - Product Development

We are actively recruiting candidates to participate in our 2021 Summer Internship program. This program is roughly 12 weeks in length and will immerse you into the culture and operations of Lonza Houston. The candidate will gain industry experience while working on exciting projects concerning the development of cell and gene therapies prior to tech transfer to GMP manufacturing.
The internship program runs from late May through early August.

Ability to organize, plan and execute projects
Research skills and attention to detail
Support execution of the development activities to establish state-of-the-art manufacturing processes for cGMP manufacturing within the Cell and Gene Therapy Development matrix
Contribute and support scientific/bioprocessing expertise towards the design and development of new processes or analytical methods that support client product concepts
Develop record-keeping skills, analyze and summarize data that will be shared with other senior members in the lab who can provide creative feedback
Perform other duties as assigned
Completion of junior year (typically 90 credits) towards a BS degree in science a related field
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of 4) required
Must currently be enrolled in BS or MS Academic Program
Knowledge of aseptic techniques/working in a cleanroom environment
Preferred experience with primary cell culture of adherent and suspension-based cells as well as various viral vector serotypes
Preferred experience or knowledge of bioreactor protocols, scale-up and development of bioreactor protocols
Preferred experience or knowledge of analytical methods and in-process controls commonly used in manufacturing processes such as cell count and viaibility, flow cytometry and molecular biology techniques
