Lonza is establishing a strategic bio manufacturing base in China using GE Healthcare Solutions. With the new facility, Lonza is responding to growing demand for a high-quality CDMO in the Chinese market. You are responsible for managing CAPEX projects as part of GZB expansion, process improvement or compliance initiative. Ensure that projects are being managed with reference to Lonza CAPEX procedure for small capital projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work across functions with various stakeholders to ensure each project is well planned for successful execution.
  • Ensure project execution through the life cycle of project initialization, capital request, scheduling, conceptual design, basic design, detailed design, construction execution, testing and commissioning.
  • Lead and drive the Engineering projects through the entire project life cycle from initiation to close-out. Attend site project meetings to present and assess the impact in terms of Safety, GMP and Quality. Lead/participate in key quality and GMP meetings and follow up on action plans. And to partner with Contracts Management, Procurement and Finance to manage business process for operational contracts and/or purchase order creations and renewals for the Function.
  • Lead and manage CAPEX projects for the entire site including new or modification of plant equipment, process improvement or compliance initiative. Ensure that projects are being managed with reference to Lonza CAPEX procedure for small capital projects. Propose and evaluate modifications to equipment, processes and operations to improve safety, increase efficiency and enhance company goals.
  • Possess the ability to lead and deliver projects/tasks on time, meeting the scope requirement and within budget. Support in field inspections and supervision of project work on site. Adapt and be flexible to work with various project teams and contractors on site. Work across functions with various stakeholders to ensure each project is well planned for successful execution.
  • Ensure project execution through the life cycle of project initialization, capital request, scheduling, conceptual design, basic design, detailed design, construction execution, testing and commissioning. Monitoring and reporting of projects status till final completion and handover to end user.
  • Manage CAPEX projects as part of GZB expansion, process improvement or compliance initiative. Ensure that projects are being managed with reference to Lonza CAPEX procedure for small capital projects.
  • Participating and provide oversight in IQ, OQ, PQ and ensure GMP compliance. Coordinate and manage the commissioning, IQ and OQ phase of the projects. Ensure completed projects and documents/drawings are properly handed over the users and technical services. Ensure project closed out process is completed.
  • Complete the approved project listed in the CAPEX plan and capital expenses within the total approved budget. Manage the contractor during the construction phase to deliver the agreed quality, costs and schedule of the projects. Supervise outside contractors to develop and implement Capital projects and plant modification.
  • Familiarize with and ensure all project work complies with site quality, safety and environmental requirements; WO, LOTO, JSA, Impact Assessment and project closeout. Comply to all Lonza's EHS requirements, never put oneself and others at safety & health risks, and report any workplace accidents, near misses and hazards as soon as practicable.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by line manager.

Key requirements:

  • BS or equivalence level in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering related disciplines preferred
  • Extensive working experience in pharmaceutical/Biologics background.
  • Fluent in Chinese and English, both oral and written.
  • GMP knowledge particular on utility and facility area.
  • Good team leader with excellent attitude to promote team spirit.
  • Possess strong analytical skills, able to identify problems quickly and solve them.
  • Familiar with utility and facility systems on operation and maintenance.
  • Experienced user of MS Office software.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple priorities and complex tasks
