Lonza Specialty Ingredients (LSI) is looking for a Production Supervisor to supervise plant operations at Lonza’s Conley, GA site on a 24 hour x 5 day basis. The scope includes Environmental Health and Safety, quality, maintenance, housekeeping, manufacturing and supervision of the day and shift teams. The role will also lead the emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Support and drive Lonza’s “Vision Zero” Environmental Health and Safety strategy.

  • Lead housekeeping inspections and ensure high standards.

  • Lead safety inspections.

  • Lead Environmental Health and Safety initiatives (e.g. Safety observation program, SUSA cards, updating standard operation procedures, carrying out risk assessments etc.)

  • Issuing and ensuring compliance with the permit to work system.

  • Lead daily pre-shift meeting for area employees.

  • Serve as Incident Controller if / as required in any emergency situation.

Financial:

  • Ensure that the production plan is delivered, resources allocated and processes managed n the most cost effective manner.

Production:

  • Ensure daily production schedule is met.

  • Coordinate all maintenance activities – call-in procedure, scheduling repairs and safe work permit issue.

  • Ensure work force headcount is aligned to meet the workload – to cover absence, holidays or additional working.

  • Attend daily production meeting – provide full update on plant status.

  • Ensure full and clear shift changeover / handover.

  • Perform any other duties as required by changing business conditions.

  • Carry out basic laboratory analytical tests.

Personnel:

  • Performance management – ensure compliance with relevant Company policy and procedure taking appropriate action if / when required.

  • Manage a team of 8 -12 Production and Maintenance personnel.

  • Track attendance and daily update of the timekeeping system.

  • Oversee new hire training plus ongoing training / competence of existing employees.

Key Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate Degree in a technical field preferred.

  • 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, chemical plant ideal.

  • Minimum of 4 - 10 years of experience in a supervisory role, manufacturing preferred.

  • Maintenance of ISO 9001 certifications for the businesses by complying with processes, procedures and instructions for all activities in which this role participates.

  • Knowledgeable and complies with all pertinent safety policies, rules and regulations.

  • Software usage (SAP, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc….)

  • Organization and time management skills..

Must pass pulmonary and full face respiratory fit testing requirements, all vessel entry and any other  medical and physical requirements such as the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting 50 pounds, climbing and working on elevated platforms and in confined spaces.
