Lonza Specialty Ingredients (LSI) is looking for an Application & Formulation Chemist to conduct formulation work, independent research and testing design, and provide technical support within the Product Development and Applications group for NA Hygiene and Preservation. The work results in existing product promotion, new products, extension into new applications needed to support the disinfection/sanitation and preservation business initiative.
Independently conduct experiments to develop and execute projects for new products, formulations, or expanded application uses.
Conduct performance testing per standardized testing protocols. Able to recommend suitable modifications to protocols. Responsible for sample preparation and submitting samples for testing to microbiology and analytical groups, and interacting with the groups on a technical level.
Prepare detailed technical assessments and reports and proposing next steps for consideration. Document experimental protocol and data and ensure invention records are properly prepared and submitted to patent attorneys for patent submittal and invention documentation.
Conduct stability testing of hygiene products per Lonza protocols for fragrance, dye and wipe substrate qualification.
Participate in product launches / promotions as appropriate. Promote the Lonza brand / profile via the development of technical literature, active participation in industry organizations or technical societies, and customer interaction.
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field
3+ years (Bachelor Degree) -OR- 1+ years (Master Degree) of application development experience in a formulation lab
Experience in consumer care or healthcare products is a plus
Experience formulating and testing products
Openness to share information and data, ability to work independently as well as part of a team
