We are looking for an Operational Excellence Business Partner to join our Operational Excellence & Strategic Projects Function based at our development and manufacturing site in Slough, UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business function units. The incumbent serves as support to management on continuous improvement-related topics. They will directly deliver or facilitate the delivery projects within the designated business area and across the site.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work within the organisation to deliver the sites operational excellence strategy.  In this role they exhibit team leadership as a problem solver, identifying issues and delivering improvements that contribute to the sites strategic goals.
  • Act as a change agent through stakeholder management earning buy-in & support and are able to show a clear return of investment to the organisation.
  • They lead and coach a cross-functional team in lean six sigma projects. They train and share their experiences with others and input into OE standard work and materials.
  • Understand and facilitate the mapping processes, consider these in context of lean and six sigma, enabling the team to deliver effective solutions.
  • Lead and facilitate improvement/problem solving workshops and root cause analysis
  • Work with the team to prioritise those projects with greatest benefit and enable effective project governance.
  • Lead specific projects and apply lean six sigma tools to improve processes.
  • Work with departments to identify and implement key metrics at appropriate levels of the business.
  • Work with functional leaders to establish continuous improvement goals & work with finance to build & validate actual improvement ROI results.
  • Effect change by influencing operational teams to adopt lean concepts such as 6S, A3, PDCA, standard work, DMAIC, problem solving, visual management, Hoshin planning & the creation of lean flow in their daily work.

Key requirements:

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification or equivalent experience with a proven track record.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification would be desirable.
  • Experience of working in an operational function in the laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Good project management, facilitation, Microsoft Excel /Office/Minitab or equivalent, analytical and communication skills.
  • Good coaching and people leadership skills.
