The site in Visp is growing and for Ibex® Solutions, our recently launched unique biological manufacturing and development concept in Visp, Switzerland, we are currently looking for a Senior Scientist – Downstream Purification to join our Mammalian Purification Development Team. You will be responsible for developing, troubleshooting and optimizing protein purification processes for monoclonal antibodies and other recombinant proteins and support the technical transfer of these processes to R&D pilot and GMP Manufacturing scales.

Key responsibilities:

  • Technical and administrative oversight of customer project stages to ensure that work is delivered on time and to budget. Primary on-site interface for internal and external customers, attending regular customer calls and face-to-face meetings.

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising laboratory work, for the appropriate documentation of the results and to present conclusions. Prepare and author technical reports, GAP and risk analyses, SOPs and customer reports.

  • Acquire expert knowledge of the automated screen to evaluate purification conditions and support further development initiatives to increase speed, reduce manual operations and simplify data transfer and analysis with an electronic lab notebook.

  • Contribute to the efficient running of the laboratories by ensuring appropriate maintenance of the instruments, monitoring the inventory level and by following best practices and lab safety rules. Ensure own training is up to date and train new starters or apprentices on dedicated instruments and techniques.

Key requirements:

  • Doctoral or master degree in Biotechnology or related field with strong practical laboratory skills and scientific expertise in protein purification.

  • Flexible, motivated personality with good teamwork skills and enjoying interdisciplinary work, able to analyse and solve complex problems that do not have a routine solution and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Structured, focused and well-organized working attitude, highly motivated and solution-oriented. Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop team members, maintaining a positive approach to setbacks and challenges.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and Unicorn software, experience with electronic lab notebook software, scripting and automation or eager to learn.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is required German is a plus.
