Senior Scientist - Protein Analytics (R&D)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Scientist to join our Analytical R&D team based at our Slough, UK manufacturing facility. The Analytical R&D team’ function is to deliver high-value technical innovation to Lonza Pharma&Biotech, both via specialist Analytical projects and as part of wider collaborative project teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • The incumbent will provide specialist analytical support using liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry-based technologies to R&D projects, as well as more general analytical testing as required. 
  • The incumbent will be responsible for design and execution of scientific activities and is primarily laboratory-based.  The role will also require frequent and effective communication between project teams, both verbal (e.g. at project meetings) and written (e.g. in the form of experimental write-up and development reports).

Key requirements:

  • Phd in Life Sciences / Science or equivalent - preferred area of study:  Biochemistry / protein chemistry
  • Relevant life science qualification or appropriate work experience within a research or development departments within the biopharma industry
  • Detailed knowledge and practical expertise in LC-MS analysis of therapeutic proteins and in proteomic analysis.
  • A good general background in established analytical methods within the industry, including the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches
  • A good technology and practical competence in a range of analytical methods
  • Good planning skills to ensure successful execution of a mixed work load
  • Ability to work in a matrix and project environment
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Ability to effectively execute complex projects
  • Enthusiasm and motivation for working and solving problems.
  • Effective communication skills for team support
