MemreePS™ contains high quality phosphatidylserine which can be used for cognitive applications. MemreePlus™ is a proprietary blend of soy-based phosphatidylserine and phosphatidic acid (PA) which can be used for cognitive health, stress reduction and exercise recovery applications. Product applications include dietary supplements and functional foods and beverages.
Research has shown that as we age, the amount of PS in our brain cells begins to decline (figure 1). While PS is found in dietary sources such as dairy products and organ meats, intake of such products generally decreases as we age. Supplementation with Memree™ can increase dietary intake of PS and help restore levels of PS in our brain cells.
MemreePlus™ has the additional benefit of containing phosphatidic acid (PA), a precursor for many important phospholipids (figure 2). Scientific data has shown that MemreePlus™ supplementation may help decrease stress.
Phosphatidylserine has been widely studied as a cognitive health ingredient. Numerous studies have shown that phosphatidylserine helps improve brain functions that decline with age. Specifically, PS has been shown to improve memory retention and support mental concentration. Furthermore, PS is the only cognitive health ingredient for which the FDA permits use of a qualified health claim.
MemreePlus™ supplementation has been shown to impact the stress response, including decreasing cortisol levels and distress. In a double blinded, placebo controlled trial, participants took either a MemreePlus™ supplement or a placebo for three weeks. After three weeks of supplementation, participants completed the Trier Social Stress Test. Salivary and serum cortisol were measured, as was perceived stress. Participants in the 400 mg arm of the study showed statistically significant decreased levels of cortisol and distress after the stress test.
MemreePlus™ supplementation may also be beneficial in sports recovery. When individuals and athletes engage in vigorous training programs, cortisol levels may rise. High levels of cortisol, however, can impede the recovery process after exercise. Cortisol is a catabolic hormone and breaks down muscle protein into its component amino acids. Cortisol also prevents amino acids from entering muscle cells for muscle tissue repair and rebuilding. Decreasing levels of cortisol could help athletes train harder and help improve the recovery process after exercise. Studies have shown that PS not only lowers cortisol levels after exercise, but also improves muscle soreness and perceptions of well-being.

Memree™ Production Process
The Memree™ line of products is produced according to strict safety and quality standards in a state of the art cGMP facility. The production process for Memree™ is carried out by a series of enzymatic reactions starting with soy derived phospholipids and cabbage derived phospholipase D. The enzymatic reaction is done in water and is free of any solvents. At the end of the process, Memree™ is extracted and stabilized to a liquid or powder form for use in end consumer applications.
