| Lonza builds a new Research and Development Center in China |
Lonza is expanding its research and development capacity in China and is building a new research and development center in Nansha (Guangzhou). The scientists in the new R&D Center will operate research laboratories and installations for process development with state-of-the-art technology and a modern and comprehensive analytical facility. The R&D Center will house about 60 scientific personnel and is planned to come into operation in the first quarter of 2006. The existing R&D group, presently located in Guangzhou, will relocate to the new center in Nansha.
The R&D Center in China will concentrate on research and development of active ingredients and intermediates in the area of custom synthesis. It will be an integral part for Lonza's global R&D Organization servicing our Exclusive Synthesis customers world wide.
