Details of today's Annual General Meeting of Lonza Group Ltd.


  • Rolf Soiron appointed Chairman of Lonza Group
  • Shareholders agreed by a large majority to all the motions of the Board of Directors
  • Dividend will be paid out on 15 April 2005

Today's Annual General Meeting of Lonza Group Ltd, presided over by Peter Kalantzis as chairman of the day, was attended by 351 shareholders. They represented 69,8 percent of the capital entitled to vote.

The Shareholders' meeting agreed by a large majority to all the motions of the Board of Directors. The dividend of CHF 1.30 per share will be paid out on 15 April 2005.

Sergio Marchionne decided not to stand for re-election to the Board of Directors and resigned his position as Chairman. The chairman of the day, Peter Kalantzis, thanked Mr Marchionne in the name of the Board of Directors, the Senior Management and the employees of Lonza for his leadership and guidance of the Group over the past six years.

Peter Kalantzis, Bernard Mach, Sir Richard Sykes and Peter Wilden were all elected for a further one-year term of office.

Rolf Soiron was newly elected to the Board of Directors. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Holcim and Nobel Biocare, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Jungbunzlauer Group.

At its constitutional meeting, the Board of Directors elected Rolf Soiron as Chairman and Sir Richard Sykes as Vice-Chairman.
