| Lonza with a new R&D Centre in China |
| Lonza is further strengthening its presence in China with the construction of a Research and Development Centre in Guangzhou. |
The Lonza Guangzhou Research and Development Centre is focused on research and development of active substances and intermediates for chemical custom manufacturing. The laboratories are equipped to the latest standards. The new Research and Development Centre employs at present 10 people and will be expanded stepwise in 2005.
Lonza has produced Niacinamide, a B-Vitamin, in Guangzhou since 1999. As an-nounced earlier Lonza is building a new Niacinamide production plant there. The new plant is planned to go on stream in the spring of 2005. Lonza currently employs 220 people in China.
