| Lonza Divests Plant in Pasadena, Bayport, TX (USA) |
| Lonza announces that it has sold the assets of its Pasadena, Bayport, TX (USA) site to Gulf Bayport Chemicals LP at the end of November 2004. |
The costs of the site closure have been accounted for by the restructuring program in 2003.
Lonza remains committed to the diketene business. It will continue to serve its customers from its plant in Visp (Switzerland).
Gulf Bayport Chemicals LP ("GBC") was formed in June 2004. The company is located in Houston, Texas (USA) and was created with the intention to purchase Lonza's chemical assets in Pasadena, Bayport, TX (USA). GBC's strategy is to focus on special anhydrides and associated chemicals whereas diketene derivatives will not form part of the company's production program.
