| Zurich, 27 May 1998 - The Alusuisse Lonza Group announces the following senior management changes. |
Leander Tenud (57), currently Division Head of Fine Chemicals and Specialties, will be leaving the company to pursue other interests. He leaves algroup after a long and successful career and we thank him for his contributions over the last 28 years.

R. Helmut Rupp (50), will be appointed Head of Fine Chemicals and Specialties and member of the Executive Committee, effective June 1, 1998. Mr. Rupp joins algroup from Hoechst AG, Frankfurt. In his previous position at Hoechst as Head of Corporate Research and Technology he was involved in all major facets of technological development for the Group. Between 1990 and 1995 he had global responsibility for the Fine Chemicals business unit of Hoechst which he repositioned to meet the global market challenges. Mr. Rupp's professional experience and track record will be a major contributor to the achievement of our Fine Chemicals and Specialties division's performance goals.
