What is L-Carnitine
send     print
L-Carnitine is an amino acid derivative and occurs naturally in the body. It is essential for the energy metabolism - in particular the fat metabolism.

Endogenous synthesis is often not sufficient to cover the animal's requirements.

Scientific research gives evidence that a dietary supplement may aid in the following situations:
  • young/elderly individuals (reduced biosynthesis)
  • increased performance requirement (growth, etc.)
  • stress (cold, heat, pregnancy, lactation, change in feed, transport)
  • conditions of sustained exertion (racing and sport animals)
  • weight management programs
  • diets low in L-Carnitine
  • high-fat diet
  • cardiac, liver, kidney and bowel disorders
  • fertility problems (e.g. sperm motility, return to oestrus)
  • surgical interventions and convalescence
