Antibacterial Hand Soaps Formulated with Lonzagard® BKC cGMP Help Reduce the Spread of Germs

Allendale, NJ, 26 March 2015 – Lonzagard® BKC cGMP Benzalkonium Chloride is a suitable alternative to Triclosan as it satisfies the strict FDA requirements as an active for consumer health care and food professionals hand soaps and sanitizers. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention likens “handwashing to a ‘do-it-yourself’ method to reduce the spread of germs and reduce the spread of diarrheal and respiratory illnesses[1]*.

Highly water soluble, light in color and essentially odorless, Lonzagard® BKC cGMP Benzalkonium Chloride can be used in product formulations for consumer hand soaps, non-alcohol hand sanitizers, healthcare hand washes and sanitizing wipes. It is a flexible, quaternary ammonium-based compound that is produced under current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) conditions meeting the standards required of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).
